The meeting will take place at the Clock Tower Centennical Hall, Yoshida Campus, Kyoto University.
The opening session and the plenary keynote lecture will be held in the main hall at the ground (1st) floor.
Please beware that the location of the welcome reception (as well as the registration desk on Sept. 22) is the Shiran Kaikan, in the neighborhood of the university.

Access
Yoshida Main Campus, Kyoto University, is located in the Kyoto City, and is accessible by bus and subway from JR Kyoto Station. For arriving at JR Kyoto Station, limousine bus service is available from Kansai International Airport and Osaka Airport, and Shinkansen Express trains are also convenient from Tokyo Station.

Local transportation (to Kyoto Univ. from Kyoto JR Station)
By bus: The bus ride will take approx. 30-35 minutes and cost 220 JPY. You can take bus number #206 bound for Kitaoji Bus Terminal via Higashiyama St.; and get off at bus stop called "Kyodai Seimon-mae". Alternatively, you can take another bus #17 bound for Ginkaku-ji via Kawaramachi St.; and get off at "Hyakumanben".
- How to purchase bus tickets: it is recommended to buy a prepaid card "Traffica Kyoto Card トラフィカ京カード" for using bus and/or subway in the Kyoto city. This prepaid open cards are good for the Municipal Subway Line and City Buses. There is no limit to their use. Cards are available for 1,000yen / 3,000yen.

If you want to take a TAXI, the journey will take about 20 minutes and cost approx. 2000 JPY.

By car: If you are planning your journey by car, please beware that there is NO parking at/around the conference venue, Kyoto University. Please refrain from coming by car.
Travel Information
Climate
Kyoto, Autumn, from late September to November, is an especially good time to plan a visit to Kyoto and you can expect pleasant weather, warm temperatures and great fall colours. The average temperature of Kyoto in September is usually 24 °C. The highest temperature is around 30 °C, and the lowest temperature is around 20 °C.
Electricity
In Japan, 2-flat-pin plugs are used. The voltage used throughout Japan is uniformly 100 volts, A.C. There are two kinds of frequencies in use; 60 Hertz in western Japan (including Kyoto) and 50 Hertz in eastern Japan.
Currency & Foreign Exchange
The local currency is Japanese Yen (JPY). Japanese money comes in bills (1000, 2000, 5000, and 10000 yen) and coins (1, 5, 10, 50, 100, and 500 yen). Major currencies, such as the US dollar and EURO, can be exchanged at the International Airports as well as at major banks and major hotels. Banks are open from 9:00 to 15:00 on Monday to Friday. The official currency for the symposium is also JPY. Other currencies will not be accepted during the conference.
Traveler's Checks and Credit Cards
Traveler's checks are accepted by leading banks and hotels in major cities. Major international credit cards such as American Express, VISA, Diners Club, MasterCard and JCB are also acceptable at these major establishments. Credit card transactions, however, are not always available outside big cities. Therefore, obtaining cash beforehand is recommended when you travel to the countryside.
Tip
Tipping is not necessary unless you request some extra special service. Individual tipping is not common in Japan, since a 10 to 15 % service charge is added to the bill at major hotels and higher-class restaurants.
Food & Water
There are many restaurants and cafeterias in Kyoto City, where you may enjoy a variety of foods and drinks at affordable prices. You may also buy snacks at supermarkets, convenience stores and other similar shops. Tap water is safe to drink anywhere in Japan.
Time Zone
Japan is in a single time zone, nine hours ahead of GMT.
